The Story of Ceylon Hibiscus

Fostering Agricultural Advancement in Sri Lanka through Knowledge and Innovation

Ceylon Hibiscus (Pvt) Ltd. is the first registered producer of the Roselle Hibiscus (Sabdariffa) plant in Sri Lanka. It was established very recently in June 2022 by Mr D N Silva who is the founder of CH Agro Farms. Roselle Hibiscus is currently grown in the Gampola area in Kandy district and we are planning on expanding the production into other areas of Sri Lanka very soon.

We have experimented and researched over two years into how to cultivate this unique plant on Sri Lankan soil. We have carried out all the cultivating processes under the advice and guidance of our agricultural experts at the Department of agriculture in Gannoruwa.

Key Milestones

The company was registered as Ceylon Hibiscus (Pvt) Ltd. in August 2022 as the first producer of Hibiscus Sabdariffa in Sri Lanka.

Approval was granted by the Department of Agriculture to import seeds and cultivate the plant to suit Srilankan climate and standards.

First production of RedRos drink by Ceylon Hibiscus using the raw calyxes harvested from our very own farms.

Approval granted to commercially manufacture RedRos drink for human consumption by the Food Research Unit at the Department of Agriculture.

First production of RosBerry Jam by Ceylon Hibiscus using the raw calyxes harvested from our very own farms.

Approval granted to commercially manufacture RosBerry Jam for human consumption by the Food Research Unit at the Department of Agriculture.
